As we know, Hollywood films have been doing exceptionally well at the Indian box office since past decade. But along with this it has also been affecting the business of Hindi cinema on a huge scale. For example, if we consider the years 2018 and 2019, two Hollywood films that have done marvelous business at the Indian box office are Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame respectively. The former had collected Rs 223 crore approximately and the latter has churned out more than Rs 350 crore and is still going strong.
Both the Marvel films have been released in the April month of the respective years. Now, if we look at the business of Hindi films in the same months, then in April 2018, all the Hindi films collectively did a business of around Rs 64 crore and in April 2019, all the Hindi films collectively did the business of around Rs 128 crore. Interestingly, in terms of the business of Hindi films, the first three months of 2018, i.e. January, February and March, garnered Rs 314 crore, Rs 205 crore and Rs 360 crore respectively, which is much more than that of April. Similarly, the first three months of 2019 collected Rs 378 crore, Rs 299 crore and Rs 354 crore respectively, which is again huge numbers as compared to April's collection in the same year. The highest earning Hindi release in April 2018 was October (released two weeks before Infinity War), which collected Rs 36 crore approximately and the highest earning Hindi release in April 2019 was Kalank (released one week before Endgame), which collected Rs 79 crore approximately.
