We have been talking about how Hollywood is expanding its base in the Indian market especially given the recent massive success of Avengers:Endgame at the Indian box office. Now we have another Hollywood film that released yesterday, Aladdin, which again overshadowed all the Hindi films released on the same day. Interestingly, both films mentioned above have been released by American film distribution company, Walt Disney Pictures.
Aladdin, released on May 25, minted Rs 4.11 crore on its first day at the box office in India. With this Hollywood film, we had two other Hindi releases - PM Narendra Modi and India's Most Wanted. Both the films opened with almost half the numbers of Aladdin. PM Narendra Modi earned Rs 2.38 crore on day one and India's Most Wanted earned Rs 2.10 crore on day one. This clearly reflects the change in the audience's preference and taste for films.
|Films Released||Day 1 Collections|
|PM Narendra Modi||2,38,00,000|
|India's Most Wanted||2,10,00,000|
