Mouni Roy kick-started her acting career with Ekta Kapoor’s hit television drama, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. After dabbling in television for a few more years, she marked her film debut with Akshay Kumar starrer GOLD last year. Her dance number, Gali gali, in the multilingual action film, KGF: Chapter 1 grabbed a lot of attention. The actor who was last seen in RAW – Romeo Akbar Walter now has a Dharma Production film in her kitty. She will be seen as the antagonist in Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra.
Taking about it, the young actor said to a publication, "I am playing the main villain in the film. I am really looking forward to it. What is more liberating for me is playing different characters that challenge me. I was surprised initially that they wanted me to play the villain.”
Mouni who became a sensation with Naagin said that it was the television fantasy-drama that helped her land Brahmastra. She said, "Ayan Mukerji had seen something from Naagin and felt I could play the villain. So you never know what clicks with whom. As an actor, you should be willing to experiment and be versatile otherwise you can't learn and grow."
Brahmastra also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia and Nagarjuna Akkineni. It is being produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Hiroo Yash Johar and Namit Malhotra under the banner of Dharma Productions. It is slated for a summer 2020 release.
