Director M Manikandan has impressed with his films Kaaka Muttai, Kuttrame Thandanai and Aandavan Kattalai. He is known to make films that make a social statement and his next directorial Kadaisi Vivasayi revolves around a farmer.
The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Raashi Khanna, Yogi Babu, Pasupathy and Ravi Prakash in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Allirajah Subaskaran.
What makes this film a talking point is that the film has a top actor like Vijay Sethupathi in a supporting role. In an interview with a daily Manikandan was asked about this casting decisions and he said, "I narrated the story and he (Vijay) told me that he wanted to play this role. I never write characters with actors in mind, for, so many things change as the production takes shape. The character involved physical work, like climbing hills, which would take two-and-a-half hours."
It is a physically demanding scene and Manikandan was surprised that Vijay endured all of it. "Even if we were shooting just one scene, he’d come and be with us the whole day. He took such an interest in the role. Even if he appears only in three or four scenes, this is a character that both of us love. And I’m sure audiences, too, will love it. The same goes for Yogi Babu’s character."
