"I Make My Directors Struggle"

Producer Anurag Kashyap on his next release Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and more

Back-to-back releases

Once I have struggled to release films of mine, today, I am happy that I have films releasing every month. I have almost 11 films lined up.

On Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana

It was Samir Sharma who spoke about this concept and I really liked it because a food movie has never been made in India. So he started working on this film and here we are.

Is it a copy?

A film on food has been made in Malayalam but it’s not inspired by or copied from that.

On casting

Casting was done by my director but who else would have suited the film better than Kunal (Kapoor) and Huma (Qureshi)? Since Huma belongs to Delhi, she knows the culture. And Kunal Kapoor is a fabulous actor who needed a proper script.

On being a ‘strict’ producer?

Oh, yes, I am a very strict producer. I not only look for talent or a good script and new directors, I also make my directors struggle. I make them wait. I think if you give someone something easily, they don’t value it. I ensure that directors have enough patience, can lead the team as well as handle things properly during shoots. I don’t want my team to call me in every 20 days to complain.
