Neerja, Talvar, Waiting, Aligarh, Sairat, Natsamrat and many other films will find space in the Indian Competition section of the Jagran Film Festival this year. Due to start on 1 July 2016 in New Delhi, the festival will screen a total of 21 feature films from all over the country. It will be judged by a Jury of five professionals headed by actress Sarika.
Other films in the competition are Aparna Sen’s Arshinagar (Bengali), Goutam Ghose’s Shankhachil(Bengali), Raja Krishna Menon’s Airlift, Anu Menon’s Waiting, Sudha Kongara’s Irudhi Suttru (Tamil), Arun Roy’s Cholai, Siddharth Siva’s Chathuram (Malayalam), Smeep Kang’s Vaisakhi List(Punjabi), J Radhaksirhnan’s Lens (Tamil-Malayalam), K Shivrudriah’s Mari Kondavaru (Kannada), Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s Nil Batte Sannata (Hindi), Nitin Neera Chandra’s Mithila Makhan (Maithili), Sabyasachi Mahapatra’s Pahada Ra Luha (Odia), Rakesh Om Chaturvedi’s [email protected](Hindi), Karma Takapa’s Mor Mann Ke Bharam (Chhattisgarhi) and Omung Kumar’s Sarbjit.
The 21 feature films will compete for 18 award categories. Last year, the Best Feature Film award was presented to Kaushik Ganguly’s Chhotoder Chhobi and the year before to Rajendra Talak’s Marathi film A Rainy Day.
