Just three films of August 2019 bring in Rs 400 crore and counting

We are in the middle of ninth month of 2019 and this year, we already have two 200-crore films and seven 100-crore films in our bucket.

If we look at the August month business of films over the last 10 years, 2019 did the highest business in the Hindi film industry. We had 11 films that released this August and the total earning of these films comes to Rs 426.67 crore and still counting. Not only total collections but also when it comes to the average earning of each film, August 2019 leads among the past decade with Rs 38.79 crore per film.

Previously, in terms of the highest net box office collections, August 2018 was leading with Rs 382.36 crore with 23 films released in that month. Now the total business of August 2019 is 11.59 per cent higher than that of August 2018.

However, as far as the average earning per film is concerned, before 2019, August 2014 was leading with 11 films earning an average of Rs 25.87 crore. But if we consider the business of August 2019, it is 49.94 per cent higher than that of August 2014 with the same number of films releasing in both months.

Interestingly, among all the 11 films released in August this year, only three films did good business - Mission Mangal (Rs 188.63 crore), Batla House (Rs 87.13 crore) and Saaho (Rs 130.48 crore), and all these films are still running in cinema houses. All the other films in August collectively did a business of Rs 20 crore approximately.
