And here we are again with another film which we can call a box office hit of 2019! The latest Hindi film, Kabir Singh, has been roaring loud and proud at the box office since the day of its release. To everyone's surprise the film broke many records by becoming Shahid Kapoor's highest opener, highest weekend grosser of 2019 among all the non-holiday releases and highest Monday grosser of 2019 by surpassing URI: The Surgical Strike.
As Kabir Singh counted five days in the cinema halls, it also became part of the 100-crore club by earning Rs 103.21 crore. Not only that, the film is now among the top 10 lifetime grossers of 2019 by beating De De Pyaar De at the box office; it now stands at the sixth position. Kabir Singh’s numbers are already 6.64 per cent higher than that of DDPD (Rs 96.78 crore).
|1||11-Jan-19||URI - The Surgical Strike||2,33,25,00,000|
|7||17-May-19||De De Pyaar De||96,78,00,000|
|8||25-Jan-19||Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi (Hindi)||91,00,00,000|
If we consider the top five grossers of 2019 and their five-day business, Bharat is the only film which had grossed higher than Kabir Singh. All other films have crossed the 100 crore mark in a week or more than a week. Kesari earned Rs 103.89 crore after its first week, Total Dhamaal earned Rs 105 crore after nine days, URI earned Rs 106.45 crore after 10 days and Gully Boy earned Rs 100.67 crore after 10 days. With the kind of popularity Kabir Singh has among the audience, now we just have to wait and watch how many more records the film breaks over the days to come.
