Kabir Singh's week one footfalls were much higher than 2019’s highest grosser URI

Six months into 2019 and we already have two 200-crore films and four 100-crore films. Out of the four 100-crore releases, one of the films that released very recently, Kabir Singh, is few steps away from crossing the 200-crore mark.

Kabir Singh, featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead, has been doing exceptionally well at the box office since the day of its release. The film is expected to cross the lifetime business of Bharat by the end of second week and will be the second highest grosser of 2019 after URI: The Surgical Strike. What if we compare the week one footfalls of Kabir Singh with the highest grosser of 2019 till now, URI? Look at the table below for the details:

We have taken the top four multiplex chains of India - PVR, Inox, Carnival and Cinepolis. The week one occupancy of Kabir Singh in these multiplexes was 72.54 per cent higher than that of URI. In PVR it was 74.38 per cent higher, in Inox it was 70.50 per cent higher, in Carnival it was 99.05 per cent higher and in Cinepolis it was 40.97 per cent higher.
