After cricket, parties, games and diets, Venkat Prabhu is now ready to enter the big bad world of politics. And who better to join him in this journey that the extremely vocal and sometimes controversial actor STR a.k.a Silambarasan, fondly called Simbu. Venkat and STR come from lineages that are politically active and have on regular basis been in the midst of Tamil Nadu political debates and discussions. So it is seems but natural that both them have decided to take the plunge into politics... but the two have decided to do it only through their film!
A few days back Venkat Prabhu had announced that his next film after Party would be with STR. Today the title of the same was announced. The film will be called Maanaadu, with the tagline 'A Venkat Prabhu Politics'. This is surely going to be different from what the director has ventured into in his previous films. Known for his light hearted films, how he plans to take on the serious issue of politics will be surely something to look forward to.
When he made Mankatha, an heist film which presented Ajith in a negative role, he proved that he could tell stories which were not just funny, but had a dark side to them. Even Saroja which is about a road trip gone wrong, had its thrilling moments. So will Maanaadu be a satire on politics, or an out-an-out political comedy, or will Venkat Prabhu go the dramatic way and give us a hard-hitting film, we will have to wait and watch.
But with STR on board there is sure to be a good dose of comedy and drama. The actor who has proved time and again that given a good script he can do wonders on screen. Gautham Menon's Vinnathaandi Varuvaayaa and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada are examples of the actor's talented work. He is also working with Mani Ratnam for the multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.
