Bollywood actor, Manoj Joshi who is known for his impeccable comic timing and flawless acting, is also known for the character of Chanakya in a play which has been in theatres since 1990. Now, Joshi has donned the avatar of a man who is also known as one of the sharpest minds of modern day Indian politics – BJP President Amit Shah in the upcoming biopic PM Narendra Modi that stars Vivekanand Oberoi in the lead role.
Joshi says, "Playing the character of Chanakya over the years has given me an in-depth understanding of politics and Chanakya-niti as it's called. I have observed Shri Amit Shah ji for a very long time. I have met him twice and have tried to absorb his personality. I have also heard that there is a photo of Chanakya in his office."
Joshi's contribution to cinema and arts can be understood from the fact that he has been awarded the Padma Shri, one of the country's highest civilian awards.
Joshi’s career has spanned over three decades and he has been part of several blockbusters cutting across genres, namely Golmaal, Vivah, Guru, Ready, Bhaagam Bhaag, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo and more recently, Judwaa 2. He is a seasoned theatre performer and has acted in several hit plays in regional languages.
Produced by Sandip Ssingh and Suresh Oberoi, the film is directed by Omung Kumar. This biopic comprises an ensemble cast including Boman Irani, Suresh Oberoi and Darshan Kumar.
