Mindy Kaling has always given the audience amazing content like her popular show The Mindy Project. The actress now turns a producer and has joined hands with Lang Fisher, the co-executive producer of The Mindy Project for a Netflix special which will be a coming-of-age comedy. The show is grabbing a lot of eyeballs and now, the audience finally gets a name for it.
Based on the life of a first generation Indian-American young girl, the modern day series consisting of 10 episodes, is named Never Have I Ever.
The show will mark the debut of Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and from what we hear, has been largely inspired from Mindy’s personal life. Another well-known Indian actress, Poorna Jagannathan seen in shows like The Night Of and Big Little Lies Season 2, will also play a regular in this new series as Maitreyi’s onscreen mother.
The series has been created by Kaling herself and she will write it, serve as an executive producer along with being a show-runner with Fisher by her side.
Other executive producers include names like, Howard Klein and David Miner.
During an interview earlier, Kaling shared about the series and said, “Netflix approached me about doing a series on young Mindy. I wasn’t as interested in telling a period piece about an Indian girl growing up in the ’80s, but I told them I’d love to do a show about a 15-year-old Indian girl now.”
