Mission Mangal has been doing exceptionally well at the box office since the day of its release on August 15. The film had earned Rs 29.16 crore on its day one, becoming the highest opener of Akshay Kumar's career. Now, Mission Mangal has set another record for the star by becoming his highest first weekend grosser among all his films. It garnered Rs 95.22 crore at the box office in four days of its release.
Prior to Mission Mangal, the highest weekend grosser of the actor was his previous release Kesari that had collected Rs 77.35 crore on its first weekend, making Mission Mangal's weekend one collection 23.10 per cent higher than that of Kesari. The third highest grosser of the actor is last year's Independence Day release GOLD, which earned Rs 66.75 crore at the box office on weekend one.
Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal features Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi in the lead cast along with Kumar.
