Jeetu Khandelwal, Distributor, Orissa
The opening of SOTY 2 was not very good here. In single screens, occupancy was 40-50 per cent and in multiplexes, 60-70 per cent. There was a mixed report from people about the film. Moreover, the recent cyclone has disrupted life here, and everything was shut till last week. We got electricity only a few days ago. Inox was closed and, in Cuttack, Inox opened at noon today, so there were no shows before 12 noon. In some places, properties will open only tomorrow. If the film picks up in its matinee and evening shows, it is likely to earn Rs 15 crore pan-India, including Rs 17-20 lakh here.
Debashish Dey, Distributor, West Bengal
The opening of SOTY 2 was quite good. Even word-of-mouth is good, so I am sure footfalls will increase by evening. On the other hand, Ramadan is underway, so the Muslim audience will stay away from watching the film. I think SOTY 2 will earn around Rs 10 crore pan-India, while Bengal alone will touch Rs 70 lakh today.
Gaurav Ruparel, Distributor, Saurashtra
The film’s opening was not good at all. Even the public reports are not very good. People are rating SOTY 2 as a very ‘average film’ and do not find it as interesting as the first instalment. I think the film won’t earn more than Rs 7-8 crore pan-India today, including Rs 20-25 lakh in my territory.
Balkrishna Shroff, Distributor, Mumbai
SOTY 2’s opening was good, at 50-60 per cent, and it is likely go up by evening. This film is meant for the young crowd and these youngsters like it. The Tiger Shroff-starrer will easily collect more than Rs 15 crore pan-India today. The Mumbai circuit accounts for 30-40 per cent of a film’s pan-India collections, so I guess the film’s business in this circuit will be Rs 6 crore.
B H Basha, Distributor, Nizam
SOTY 2 took a slow opening this morning and the public reviews of the film are not very good. People say the film is ‘okay-ish’. However, advance bookings have improved from the 4 pm show, so the film will pick up during the night shows. The film will earn Rs 7-8 crore pan-India today, including Rs 1.5 crore in my circuit.
