Windows Productions’ Mukherjee Dar bou has hit the theatres today on International Women’s Day. What makes this film special is that it is presented, directed and enacted by women. The drama celebrates womanhood and takes one on a journey to discover them without any shelter from the counter gender. It is also the first time in West Bengal that the movie is releasing especially targeting the women, by the women on a women’s day.
The latest addition to the all-woman crew is playback singer Nikhita Gandhi who has lent her voice to a popular Rabindra sangeet titled Khanchar pakhi chhilo sonar khanchatite. This is the first time that Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee have roped Gandhi in for their film.
The soulful lyrics of the song sketches the journey of a bird trapped inside a cage and wants to break free, just like another wild bird who can fly around everywhere without being trapped. It personifies the beauty of the film and etches to the characters in the movie.
Mukherjee Dar Bou is presented by Roy, directed by Pritha Chakraborty, penned by Samragnee Bandyopadhyay and stars Rituparna Sengupta, Koneenica Banerjee and Anashua Majumdar in the lead.
