Sunny Deol is back with his next film, a sequel to his 1990 superhit, Ghayal. Up for release soon, Ghayal Once Again features Deol and is also helmed by him. While the actor-director is playing the same character from the first instalment, the new additions to Ghayal Once Again are four youngsters in lead roles. This week, we spoke to one of the youngsters Aanchal Munjal about working with mega star Sunny Deol, both on and off screen
I am from Haryana but we moved to Mumbai when I was nine. I wanted to act ever since I was little and that is the reason we moved to Mumbai so that I could start a career as a child artiste.
I started with cameo roles and moved on to Parvarrish and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. But I didn’t want to get stuck with television roles and so I did not take up any more TV shows. I wanted to concentrate solely on films. During this time, casting director Harry Parmar, who also does casting for television, was casting for Ghayal Once Again too. He knew I was looking for film assignments and so he called me when the auditions stared.
On The Brief
The only brief I was given for the role was to act my age. Then we were briefed by our director Sunny sir. He told me to think the way my character would think. I play a girl who has never seen her parents; she lives with her nana, who means the world to her. But she suddenly gets to know a bitter fact of her life. The story is about four youngsters who get into trouble and how Ajay Mehra, played by Sunny sir, comes to their rescue.
On Sunny Deol
Sunny sir is very calm and a perfectionist as a director. He looks at all the details and, the best thing was, he knew all about the characters, even the ones who have a miniscule role in this film. He used to brief us on every scene in immense detail.
