Kriti Sanon who has done light-hearted and urban roles, is all set to get into period mode with the Ashutosh Gowarikar directorial.
In an interview with a leading daily, she spoke about her role and her director. She said, "My knowledge of history is terrible since I have never been fond of the subject. So for me, every word about the Battle of Panipat came from Ashu sir. Not too much is documented about Parvati Bai, so the character was built by Ashu sir in the way he visualised her. We had an amazing experience of finding the character."
Elaborating on her character she said, "Parvati Bai has been shown as a vaidya (physician) in the movie. I am not sure if women were even allowed to work at that time. The female characters in Ashu sir's films are strong, independent and someone who can voice their opinion. Even here, my character falls in love with Sadashivrao and accompanies him to the war."
Panipat is based on the Third Battle of Panipat, which is one of the most epic battles in the history of India that took place on January 14, 1761.
The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Kapoor. It is produced by Sunita Gowariker under their home banner AGPPL in association with Rohit Shelatkar's company – Vision World. The film is scheduled to release on December 6, 2019.
