Papa Sham Kaushal reveals why he feels relief that Vicky Kaushal finally did a film like URI

The success of Vicky Kaushal in the Bollywood industry is one for the books. He started being known in B-town as an indie actor with films like Masaan and Raman Raghav 2.0 in his kitty. But the audience saw a new side of him last year with films like Love Per Square Foot, Lust Stories, Raazi and Manmarziyaan. Of course, in 2019, the actor hit the ball out of the park by giving the action-packed blockbuster URI: The Surgical Strike. And the person who is most happy with this success is Vicky’s father, action director Sham Kaushal.

We spoke to Sham Kaushal recently when he was shooting for his Malayalam film Mamangam and he could not stop gushing about his son. On Vicky achieving this kind of success, Sham Kaushal said, “I am very happy that Vicky has achieved all this success. We have always taught that fame and money is great and can come and go but one has to keep in mind the upbringing that has been given to us.”

Talking about the humble beginnings of the family, he also said that he came to Mumbai years back from a village that did not have electricity and now the success their family has seen seems surreal. There is a lot of happiness and gratitude that has come with the success. Sham Kaushal who has been in the industry for almost 30 years now, happily shared that for 29 of those 30 years he was known as an action director but since the past year, he is known as Vicky Kaushal’s dad.

He revealed that many people pointed out that Vicky Kaushal, being the son of an action director had not done an action film but after URI: The Surgical Strike and the josh-filled action in it, there are no complaints now.
