The trade is waiting for the next big release of the year, Tezz, starring Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut. Last week’s releases, Vicky Donor and Hate Story, are still doing well at the box office but the big release before Tezz was Housefull 2 on April 2. Hence, the trade has got their hopes up for Tezz, which is only two days away from hitting cinemas.
Distributor Gaurav Ruparel of Girish Pictures in Rajkot reveals, “The opening of Tezz will be very good as it is a big film after a long time. Vicky Donor was not a mass film, not even Hate Story. Both had their own type of audience whereas Tezz has mass appeal. Also, Tezz is releasing in both multiplexes and single-screen cinemas. Collections over the weekend are expected to be 60-70 per cent.”
Exhibitor Prem Lakhani of Shree Lokhendra Talkies in Ratlam too is buoyant. “We will be seeing an action-thriller after a long time. So people are looking forward to Tezz. It also has a big cast, each with their own set of fans who will definitely venture out to watch the film. Tezz will do well over the weekend in the CI region.
Distributor Chandra Shekhar Verma of Pali Plaza in Bukharo adds, “Tezz is one of the biggest releases of 2012 as it has a big cast and there is an item song by Mallika Sherawat too. It’s an action-thriller and these films do well especially in Bihar. Ajay Devgn will be featuring on the big screen after a long time, which is another draw. We can expect a 70-80 per cent opening and 80 per cent during the weekend.”
Exhibitor Ashok Mallik of Shree Mallik Enterprises in East Punjab reveals, “Tezz will take a good opening and do well too. There is no other big Hindi release but Hollywood film The Avengers will offer tough competition. However, audiences in India prefer watching Hindi films, especially action films. The Punjab audience too loves action films. So we are expecting an opening of 60-70 per cent on the first day.”
Distributor Jeetu Khandelwal of Movie Pioneers in Orissa too believes that Tezz will be a hit, even if not a super hit. “Ajay will be seen in an action film after Singham, which was a long time ago. Also, Tezz is a different type of action film. His fans will definitely come to cinemas to watch the actor. The film will take a good opening and will do better at the weekend as May 1 is a public holiday. This means the film will also bring in good collections during its first week. First-day collections are pegged at 70-80 per cent and for the weekend, 70 per cent.”
