Rajkumar Hirani has woven his magic on the Indian audience on several occasions. From Munnabhai to PK and 3 Idiots, the filmmaker has never failed to impress the audience. His films have earned massive collections at the domestic box office and set several records every single time.
With Sanju too, Hirani has hit the bull’s eye. The film, based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, has raked in nearly Rs 165.3 crore in just five days and broken several records. Everyone is raving about the movie and its collections, but little does anyone know that Sanju is following the trend that PK and 3 Idiots set.
If you analyse the first five day collections of 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju (Rajkumar Hirani's last three releases), you will see what we mean. Let's take, for example, the day-one and day-two collections of all three films. On day one, 3 Idiots clocked Rs 12.78 crore, PK collected Rs 24.77 crore and Sanju earned Rs 33.5 crore. On day two, 3 Idiots earned Rs 12 crore, PK raked in Rs 28.3 crore and Sanju collected Rs 38.15 crore. Apart from 3 Idiots, both PK and Sanju see an upward trend, of 13-15 per cent.
Similarly, the percentage increase in collections of all three films on day 3 vis-a-vis day 2 was between 10 and 30 per cent. The films even saw a 20-45 per cent dip on the first Monday vis-a-vis day 3, and a further 7-15 per cent drop on day 5 vis-a-vis day 4. Check out the collections chart below to get a better understanding of what we are trying to say!
|Day||3 Idiots||Jump/ Drop in %||PK||Jump/ Drop in %||Sanju||Jump/ Drop in %|
