Ankit Tiwari hits hat trick with Roy. After Alone and Khamoshiyan, the music of Roy has triumphed on the charts due to the mix of its upbeat, soulful and trendy tunes. The romantic thriller, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez, caught the fancy of listeners with its promotional track Sooraj dooba hai. So, what made the music so popular? We take a look into the album that enlists five-tracks composed by Tiwari, Meet Bros Anjjan and Amaal Mallik.
As, Arijit Singh has become synonymous with soulful melodies, it is quite refreshing to hear him croon the club number Sooraj dooba hai. The opening track by Mallik, is filled with catchy, upbeat tunes with enough zing to become a perfect party anthem. Singh and Aditi Singh Sharma are in perfect sync in this romantic groovy number penned by Kumaar. “Sooraj dooba hai yaaron, do ghoont nashe ke maaro, raste bhula do saare gharbaar ke,” is quite addictive and no wonder it’s on everyone’s lips.
Tiwari takes the lead in the album with his signature styled number Tu hai ki nahi. The slow melody starts off with the lovable whistle tune. The composer has entwined the whistle tunes beautifully in the song that is based on the simple orchestration. Tiwari’s singing is quite impressive and offers the much required melancholy feel to the track. Though the track takes time to pick-up, it is worth a wait. The unplugged version by Tulsi Kumar is equally notable with the soulful vocals complimenting the basic guitar tunes.
Boond boond, yet another impressive number, outshines Tiwari’s previous offering Tu hai ki nahi. The captivating lyrics penned by newcomer Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay and vocals of Tiwari mingles flawlessly with the harmonium, guitar and violin tunes. This might be one of the most refreshing romantic tracks.
Yaara re brings the talent singer KK back on the music scene. The singer who is maintaining a low profile these days, makes his appearance count effortlessly with this omposition. The song that starts with Tiwari’s vocals is smoothly handed over to KK who captures the sad undertones of the track perfectly.
The makers of Baby doll, Meet Bros Anjaan are roped in for the peppy number Chittiyaan kalaiyaa. The composition, though falls on the same lines of Baby doll, its a catchy Punjabi dance number. Kanika Kapoor brings the patent Punjabi tadka to this foot tapping number.
Verdict: The album is a winner and definitely deserves a spot on all playlists.
