Jon Favreau's The Lion King has been performing well at the box office since the day of its release. There was a strong buzz among the audience for this film, especially because the Hindi version of it was being dubbed by Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan. The Lion King had a good opening of Rs 10.50 crore at the box office and it became the third highest day one grosser among the Hollywood releases of 2019.
Now as its first weekend passed, the film became the second highest weekend grosser among this year's Hollywood releases. The Lion King churned out Rs 52.77 crore in its first weekend and is followed by Spider-Man: Far From Home (Rs 42.07) crore and Captain Marvel (Rs 39.28 crore). The Lion King's weekend numbers are higher than Spider Man's first weekend numbers by just one per cent. The highest first weekend Hollywood grosser of 2019 is Marvel's Avengers: Endgame that collected Rs 155.94 crore in the first weekend.
