Among the all-time highest grossing films of Salman Khan, Tiger Zinda Hai stands at the top position with the lifetime earnings of Rs 331.11 crore; the film also stands at third position among all Hindi films. His second highest grosser is Bajrangi Bhaijaan with Rs 316.79 crore and then follows Sultan with Rs 300.10 crore. Khan also has a Rs 200-crore film in his kitty – Kick with Rs 214.04 crore and has 10 films grossing more than Rs 100 crore which also includes his latest release Bharat. However, this list of films also includes the actor’s first ever film as lead, Maine Pyar Kiya!!

Well, the 1989 release Maine Pyar Kiya was the biggest blockbuster film of the ‘80s era that garnered the highest box office numbers at that time: Rs 15 crore. The musical romance featured Bhagyashree along with Khan in the lead and was counted among the top 10 successful films of Hindi cinema at that time. It was dubbed in around five different languages all over India and overseas.
We have been calculating the worth of the classic films of Hindi cinema like Mughal-E-Azam, Sangam, Waqt, Jab Jab Phool Khile, and so on, in terms of the gold price today. Similarly, when we measured the worth of Maine Pyar Kiya in today’s date, the total amount the film grossed came to more than Rs 150 crore in the year 2019. The mega blockbuster of 1960, Mughal-e-Azam's worth in 2019 is more than 1500 crore and 1964’s Sangam is worth Rs 2000 crore today!
In the year 1989, the cost of 10 grams of gold was just Rs 3,140; today gold of the same weight costs Rs 34,100. As per our calculation, the worth of the total business of Maine Pyar Kiya in today’s date would be Rs 159.75 crore and by that calculation, the film crossed the lifetime numbers of the eighth highest grosser of Khan, Dabangg 2 that grossed Rs 150.10 crore.
