Sanju has surpassed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil's lifetime collections in just 3 days. It has now become Ranbir Kapoor's second-highest grosser ever.
Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju has not only won the hearts of millions, it has also broken several box-office records during its first weekend. In fact, in just 3 days at the domestic box office, the movie raked in Rs 117.85 crore. Not only are these huge collections, but with this, the biopic on Sanjay Dutt's life has beaten several movies at the ticket window. And that’s not all.
Sanju has also hit a milestone no one had expected it to achieve. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial has beaten the lifetime collections of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (Rs 111.61 crore) in just 3 days and has become Ranbir Kapoor's second-highest grosser to date. Being able to achieve such a massive feat in the first weekend is a huge deal.
Sanju enjoyed a huge buzz before its release and, after getting a wide release (4,000 screens) along with some fantastic reviews and phenomenal word-of-mouth publicity, we knew the film would perform well. With no competition and a tremendous hold on the first Monday, we expect Sanju to keep raking in the moolah.
Considering the way the film is being appreciated and the business it is doing, it will easily breeze past Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani's lifetime box-office collections (Rs 185.85 crore) by the end of the first week and become the actor's highest-grosser to date. Huge, isn't it?
Sanju will also become Ranbir Kapoor's first Rs 200-crore film, but can it rake in Rs 300 crore at the domestic box office? That's something we will have to wait and watch.
In the meantime, stay tuned to Box Office India as we get you all the box office updates on Sanju right here.
