Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Sanju is still putting enjoying a fantastic run at cinemas across the country, even though its numbers dipped somewhat today. But if one compares the movie to other non-holiday films, Sanju’s business on weekdays has surpassed expectations. Distributors across territories discuss their expectations from the movie today.
Rajesh Thadani, Mumbai
Occupancy this morning was 40-50 per cent. Yesterday’s collections were around Rs 6.95 crore in my circuit and they should be Rs 5-6 crore today. Across India, Sanju should earn Rs 15-17 crore at the box office. There is a little drop in collections today but the numbers are still good for a working day.
Ravi Machchar, Nizam
Sanju will collect over Rs 15 crore across territories today. Being a Wednesday, we might see a 20-25 per cent drop in collections. Yesterday, the film earned Rs 1.1 crore in my circuit and it should collect Rs 80 lakh or more today. The morning shows had 30-35 per cent occupancy today. Earning Rs 25 crore and Rs 22 crore, on a Monday and a Tuesday respectively, is not a small feat for a film which did not release on a holiday.
Jeetu Khandelwal, Orissa
Occupancy this morning was okay as it is a Wednesday. Yesterday’s collections, at Rs 30 lakh, were above my expectations in my circuit, and I expect it to ern Rs 25 lakh today. Pan-India, the number has a good chance of reaching Rs 20 crore.
Gaurav Ruparel, Saurashtra
There is a slight drop in collections in my territory today, around 35-40 per cent in multiplexes compared to the weekend. Yesterday, the film earned Rs 28 lakhs here and I expect the number to be between Rs 25-30 lakh today too. Being a Wednesday today, factories are closed here and that will benefit collections. However, in single screens, the drop is quite big. All over India, Sanju will earn Rs 15-17 crore today.
BH Basha, Mysore
Yesterday’s collections were Rs 1 crore in my territory but there will be a 20-per cent drop today, which is not really huge. Today’s morning shows showed 25-30 per cent occupancy, and considering that, the movie should collect around Rs 80 lakh in my circuit today. Pan-India, Sanju could hit Rs 20 crore today as well.
Gaurrav Gaur, Rajasthan
Yesterday’s business was exactly what I had expected. Today, morning occupancy, at 30 per cent, was almost the same as it was yesterday. Collections in my circuit should touch Rs 1 crore with a little drop being a Wednesday. Pan-India, the film will definitely collect around Rs 18 crore. This movie crossed Rs 150 crore in just five days and it still has a long way to go.
Debashish Dey, West Bengal
Today’s morning shows showed 30-per cent of occupancy. There is definitely a drop in the numbers but it is still great for a movie to do business like this on a non-holiday weekday. Even yesterday, collections crossed Rs 20 crore pan-India, which is amazing. Today too, they might reach Rs 20 crore in India, and in my circuit I expect them to be around Rs 1 crore. This movie is breaking all the records of a non-holiday film.
