John Abraham-starrer and action drama Satyameva Jayate has taken a bumper opening and exceeded expectations. Distributors across India share their predictions of the day’s collections.
Ravi Machchar, Nizam
Satyameva Jayate has opened tremendously, with 70-80 per cent occupancy. The morning shows were all full in my area. I never thought this movie would do so well. It is unbelievable! I can bet that today’s collection will grow with each passing show. In my multiplex in Aurangabad, all the shows at 1:30 pm were full. I believe the film should earn Rs 75-80 lakh in Nizam and Rs 13-15 crore across India, on day one.
Rajesh Thadani, Mumbai
Satyameva Jayate has fared better than I expected. The advanced booking for this film was not great but occupancy for the morning and noon shows was really good. The film will earn about Rs 6 crore in my circuit and Rs 20-22 crore pan-India, for today.
Gaurav Ruparel, Saurashtra
Satyameva Jayate took a fabulous opening, with 80-per cent occupancy. Such a huge opening was not expected for a massy movie but since it is a holiday, plenty of people showed up for the morning and noon shows. The film is expected to pick up further during the evening shows. It should collect Rs 40 lakh in my circuit today and Rs 10-12 crore pan-India.
Jaspal Dhingra, East Punjab
In massy centres, Satyameva Jayate has the upper hand and the movie is leveraging the public holiday to pull in the crowds. Also, since this is a massy film, single screens have very good occupancy. Pan-India, the film should collect Rs 16 crore and in my circuit around Rs 2 crore today.
Sarang Chandak, CP
Satyameva Jayate took a very good opening. Many people came to watch the morning and noon shows, especially in single screens and small multiplexes. Occupancy till now suggests that the movie will earn Rs 75 lakh in my circuit and Rs 12-14 crore pan-India, today.
BH Basha, Mysore
Satyameva Jayate had a decent opening with 30 per cent occupancy. It should pick up by evening and late evening, with the occupancy rising up to 70-85 per cent. The film should earn Rs 1-1.5 crore in my territory and do excellent business across India.
