We told you last week how the first quarter of 2018 has been the best one in a decade for the film industry. Many big and small films did exceptionally well at the box office and earned a lot of money. One of those success stories is Yash Raj Films’ Hichki. The comeback film of Rani Mukerji was eagerly awaited and the lighthearted yet meaningful storyline caught the attention of the audience too.
Looking at the immense love the film got from the masses, rumours about a sequel started buzzing in the trade. Sources from the production house itself started cropping up and talking about it. But, when we contacted the director of the film, Siddharth P Malhotra, he denied the talk. “No sequel planned. Just rumours that I am hearing too,” he said.
Interestingly, a similar rumour of a sequel was doing the rounds a few years ago, about the second instalment of Mukerji’s last project Mardaani. Looks like YRF is becoming a little too prone to sequel rumours without any truth to them.
