Singer Jubin Nautiyal talks to Titas Chowdhury about his latest single Humnava Re
Jubin Nautiyal reveals how he got on board his latest single Humnava Re. “I was introduced to the melody of the song, which was composed by Rocky-Shiv, three years ago. Since then, this melody has haunted me and I wanted to do something about it,” he says.
Shedding some light on the track, he says, “T-Series wanted to do a single with me for a while but I was a little reluctant because I wanted to do it perfectly. When this song was given and I was told that Manoj Muntashirji was going to write it and Aditya Dev was producing the track, it made me go, ‘Wow! This is exactly what I want to do.’ T-Series and Bhushanji (Kumar) got the whole project together.” He adds, “The music and the lyrics have an old-school charm and a new-age vibe, which is very difficult to achieve.”
With positive feedback still coming in, Nautiyal remarks, “I have sung a lot of songs but the kind of response I am getting with this one is really different.”
About the uniqueness of the song, Nautiyal shares, “I have done music videos before but I invariably play myself – a musician. This is the first time I am playing a character. It was designed for me and I had to work on the character.”
Humnava Re is his second collaboration with composers Rocky and Shiv after Haaye Dil. “Rocky and Shiv are brilliant composers. What I like about them is that they don’t make music for anybody, they make music for themselves. I have never sounded like that in any other song. That is what a singer wants – to break barriers and reach a place where he can explore better opportunities.”
Talking about his experience while collaborating with T-Series, he says, “They are doing the job the way it should be done. They are the people who made Bollywood music so big in India. After working with them, I realised that artists are getting the liberty or freedom to work on their sound and at the same time, the whole team is working with you.” He further adds, “I am very thankful to Bhushanji and the three singles that I did with them. They are the best people to work with.”
The crowd favourite has an eclectic line-up for the upcoming months. “You will hear my voice in Fanne Khan and Firkee.”
