Is Spider-Man really out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Read Details

Even though it has been a few months since the heartbreaking end of the Avengers series with Avengers: Endgame, fans all over the world are still mourning about the loss of Iron Man. The Marvel Cinematic Universe did raise some spirits with the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home and the announcement of their movies in the upcoming Phase Four.

But now, the MCU has devastated the fans once more with the talk about Spider-Man no longer being a part of the Marvel universe.

Speculations have been rife for some time about Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige taking the decision to not produce any more Spider-Man films. Word is that this step has been taken due to the ongoing disputes between Sony Pictures who have the rights to the character and the Disney Films which is the parent company of Marvel. This negotiation is regarding the revenue-sharing of Spider-Man films.

A representative from Sony commented to a leading news website, "Much of today's news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige's involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney's decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film."

And, according to another speculation stated by an international website, the reason for this dispute is about Disney and Sony sharing equal revenue of all Spider-Man films instead of the five per cent share of the gross box office revenue that Marvel and Disney are being given.

The recently released Spider-Man: Far From Home was the biggest movie in this particular franchise, making over 1 billion dollars at the worldwide box office. Disney felt that a good chunk of this revenue was due to the build-up of other MCU films and they should get a bigger share which Sony was not happy about. Hence, the studios have decided to take different paths.

Several fans have taken to social media to express their displeasure with this decision. Even Marvel Avengers’ Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, also put out a post saying, “Hey @sonypictures we want Spider-Man back to @therealstanlee and @marvel please, thank you #congrats #spidermanrocks.”
