A year after the critically acclaimed Rong Beronger Korhi, director Ranjan Ghosh is back with his third film. Titled Ahaa Re, the film stars Rituparna Sengupta and Arifin Shuvoo in lead roles. The teaser of the film that released yesterday is high on emotions. The simplistic portrayal of their impending romance is one of the highlights of the teaser.
It boasts a parallel narrative where we get glimpses of a Kolkata based middle-class Hindu woman and a Muslim chef from Bangladesh. The dichotomy in their ways of lives are accentuated by the juxtaposition of shots where one of them is offering namāz at his apartment and the other is chanting Sanskrit hymns during Saraswati pujo. Following these contrasting scenes, we see Shuvoo’s character cooking a new dish at his kitchen and Sengupta’s character is preparing to cook in her humble kitchenette.
The teaser is laced with a mellifluous piece of musical composition by Souvik Gupta, popularly known as Savvy. The film also has a poem by Ranbindranath Tagore. Reportedly, there is also a Nazrul Geeti in it. What adds to our intrigue is that there is no dialogue in the teaser.
Ghosh is known for portraying complex human emotions and layered relationships. Seems like Ahaa Re - a love story between two cooks that focuses on how food plays a catalyst in bringing them close - is yet another feather in his cap.
The film also features Paran Bandopadhyay, Alamgir Hossain, Dipankar De, Shakuntala Barua, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Anuvab Pal and Shubho Shankha Das in key roles. Sengupta’s maiden production house Bhavna Aaj O Kal has produced the film.
