Vijay Sethupathi Birthday Special: 5 movies that prove the actor's versatility

Known for his humility and of course his superlative acting talent, Vijay Sethupathi has carved a niche for himself in the 15 years that he has been in the film industry. He started off with uncredited movie appearances for nearly six years. It was his role as the villain in Sundarapandian that made the industry take notice of him. He followed it up in the same year as the leading man in Pizza. The film was a hit. His subsequent movie choices made him not only the darling of the audiences but also the critics. With every movie he proved that he is not the conventional movie actor, but with whatever he did there would definitely be a mass appeal.

On his birthday today we look at five such performances of Vijay Sethupathi that prove that he is a versatile actor and force to reckon with in Kollywood.

Seethakaathi (2018)

This is Vijay’s 25th film. He had limited screen time even though the film was centred around his character ‘Ayya’ Aadhimoolam. But as an aging actor he came out with flying colours. Every frame that he was in proved that there is no role that he will not attempt.

As Jaanu and Ram, the two actors connected with the audience and their memories of their school romance. Vijay as Ram, was a complete departure from the usual roles we see him play. Soodhu Kavvum (2013)

This was Vijay Sethupathi’s third film as leading man. After the mystery horror Pizza and the comedy thriller Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, Vijay stepped into a completely different zone with Soodhu Kavvum. As Das, he not only played a character much older than his actual age, but it believable as well. A lot of credit of the film goes to the writer-director Nalan Kumarasamy, but there is no doubt that the Vijay was much responsible for the film’s success.
