Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-starrer WAR, an action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand, has shattered records as it became the highest ever Hindi film opener. The film released in theatres on October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, and made a new record at the box office by earning Rs 50.27 crore.
Prior to this, the highest day-one grosser ever was last year's release, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, Thugs Of Hindostan (TOH), which grossed Rs 47.28 crore at the box office. This makes WAR’s collections approximately 6.32 per cent higher than that of TOH. Needless to say, WAR also becomes the highest opener of Roshan and Shroff's career. Following WAR and TOH, the other films among the top five day 1 grossers of all time include Bharat with Rs 42.10 crore, Baahubali: The Conclusion with Rs 40.50 crore and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with Rs 38.03 crore.
WAR had created a strong buzz among the audience since the trailer was released and the release of the songs added to the excitement. The advance booking over the coming days is also quite strong as expectations from the film are sky-high.
