The actor received Best Male Debut award for his performance in the film. Since then he has starred in eight films. His 2016 release MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, based on the life of former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, was a box office hit. The film garnered Rs 120.15 crore at the box office and became his highest grossing film so far.
